Organisers of the 5th Osu Duku Football Festival, which is attracting huge crowds daily at the Salem Park, have warned the participating teams and fans to be very disciplined on and off the field to portray a positive image of Ghana Football and the sponsors.
Nii Adjei, the pitch marshal, and Chris Ben Norteye aka Smile, media coordinator, who represented the organisers on Omashi TV in a discussion on the tournament last Friday, said the chief organiser, One Don, and his sponsors do not like violence and indiscipline, so they hope that all the teams who have qualified for the next round will comport themselves well into the finals.
He expressed that teams that do not comply with the discipline measures will be disqualified and the opponents declared winners.
He noted that the Duku Football Festival is to create fun, enjoyment, unearth talents and have a befitting 2026 Homowo festival among the people in the Greater Accra Region. The eight communities represented are Adabraka, Ga Mashie, Mayera, Nima, Nungua, La, Teshie and Osu.
There will be other activities like Quiz Competition, Cycling Race and Clean Up Exercises to create awareness.
At stake are fantastic prizes, including cash, a specially designed trophy, and football kits.
Arnold Aryee, a fitness trainer in charge of aerobics and consultant to the Football Festival, noted that they hope to expand the tournament with the inclusion of communities like Dansoman, Chorkor, Korle Gonno and Mamprobi.
Meanwhile, the massive Osu Duku Health Walk has been scheduled for August 15, 2026. It will go through the principal streets of Accra and end at the Black Star Square.
