Ghanaians will smile – Skipper Jordan Ayew promises

Skipper of the Ghana national football team, Jordan Ayew, has assured Ghanaians that they will smile after the Black Stars edge out Colombia from the FIFA World Cup 2026 edition at Kansas City Stadium in the USA on Saturday.

He was speaking to journalists at a press conference ahead of the round of 32 duel and hoped that the team would jell according to the plans of Coach Carlos Queiroz.

Jordan Ayew, who is the junior brother of former captain Andre Ayew and son of the great football maestro Adedi Ayew Pele, said he does not think about records or comparisons but wants to give his best to help Ghana qualify and win the World Cup,

He demonstrated his patriotism and nationalism by sympathising with the recent flood victims and advised them to be careful and take precautions.

The Black Stars have so far won one game against Panama, drawn 0-0 with England, and lost 2-1 to Croatia to qualify, but according to Coach Quieroz, the real tournament is about to start from the round of 32, and he hopes to beat Colombia, whom he has coached before, and move on.

Ghana will feature players like Goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, Marvin Senaya, Gideon Mensah, Jerome Opoku, Jonas Adjetey, Thomas Partey, Fatawu Issahaku, Kwesi Sbio, Caleb Yirenkyi, Antoine Semeyo, Brandon Thomas – Asante, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Ernest Nuamah, Inaki Williams, Prince Adu, Chris Bonsu Baah, Augustine Boakye, and Derek Lukassen.

Meanwhile, many Ghanaians are optimistic that the team will do well against Colombia. Joseph Skilsman Tornado, a coach in Accra, believes it is going to be a very tough game and Ghana will win through penalty kicks.

Nii Amoo, a former footballer, thinks Ghana will win by a slim margin. He noted that the game will be tight, but the better side is going to triumph.

Daniel Dravie, a sports presenter on Omashi TV, also hopes Ghana will win for people to be happy, as the floods have made some Ghanaians sad, and they are counting their losses.
