
President of the Ghana National Paralympic Committee (NPC) and the African Paralympic Committee (APC) has rewarded Ghana’s five Para Athletes with GH¢10,000 each for successfully qualifying for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The gesture serves as both a reward for their hard work and a motivation as they prepare to represent Ghana on the international stage.
The athletes were officially unveiled ahead of the Games, with Mr. Deen reaffirming his commitment to supporting and developing para sports in Ghana.
He noted that another GH c 5,000 will be topped up before the athletes move to Glasgow.
The para athletes who have qualified are: Botsyo Nkegbe – Men’s T54 Wheelchair Racing and three-time Paralympian, Hayford Addai – Men’s T47 Para Athletics, Haruna Tahiru – Men’s 100kg+ Para Powerlifting, and Promise Aheto – Para Swimming.
Meanwhile, Nkegbe has commended his colleagues for qualifying and thanked the National Paralympic Committee and GOC for their efforts in supporting sportsmen and women.
He appealed to corporate Ghana to come on board to support Team Ghana for Glasgow 2026.
Tahiru Haruna, the power para lifter, has also assured his fans, friends, and family of a medal.
