Rightset Ghana Concludes World Table Tennis Day With Successful Community Tournament In Accra

Young table tennis players in Accra marked World Table Tennis Day under the theme “Health and Well-Being” with a vibrant community tournament aimed at promoting inclusion, active lifestyles, and grassroots sports development.

The event was organised by RightSet Ghana in collaboration with The Big House Table Tennis Club and hosted at New Ashongman, opposite the Ashongman Community Hospital. It received support from the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), Spinsight, and the Ghana Table Tennis Federation.

The programme was spearheaded by Project Manager Samira Mensah and Founder Gifty Appiah, a 2023–2026 International Olympic Committee (IOC) Young Leader and this year’s World Table Tennis Day Celebration Promoter. Her leadership was instrumental in securing key partnerships and coordinating the successful delivery of the event.

The celebration brought together community-based clubs, including teams from New Ashongman, Kasoa, Nungua, Chorkor, and Madina, creating a platform for young athletes from diverse backgrounds to compete and interact through their shared passion for table tennis.

Beyond competition, the event served as a developmental platform for participants to build confidence, strengthen social connections, and enhance both physical and mental well-being through sport participation.

The cadet category saw Blue Rose Table Tennis Club emerge as champions, following a strong display of discipline, teamwork, and technical ability throughout the tournament.

Organisers highlighted that the initiative was designed to position table tennis as a tool for social impact, promoting discipline, teamwork, healthy living, and community cohesion while supporting youth development.

With strong backing from partners, the celebration reinforced the growing role of sport in promoting well-being and creating opportunities for young people, particularly at the grassroots level.
