Black Panthers Gym boxers are of a different class – Coach Ebenezer Adjei

Coach Ebenezer Adjei, aka ‘Killer, ‘ head trainer at the Black Panthers Boxing Gym at Jamestown, says his boxers are of a different class because they are disciplined and respect a lot.

“The elders of the gym have built discipline in the boys, so they don’t misbehave and do certain things like insulting people,” he said in an exclusive chat.

According to him, that is the reason they took three boxers to the finals of the  National Individual Amateur Boxing Championship, and they all won gold.

He thanked the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) for the opportunity to showcase their talent.

He is hopeful that they will represent Ghana well in the highest ranks of world boxing.

Mathias Ashitey,  Ibrahim Doku, and Ebenezer Ankrah were among the best boxers who have been selected for the Black Bombers.

Coach Killer said any indisciplined boxer can not stay at Black Panthers because the coaches are strict but very friendly.

“If you are not a serious boxer, you can’t stay at Black Panthers, and our aim or ambition is to go to the limit. Our boxers are scouted and groomed to become champions,” he expressed.

Assistant Coach Okoe also added that the young boxers are willing to learn something new every time, and he is always available to support them.

Some of the popular professional boxers at the Black Panthers Boxing Gym are 2022 Commonwealth Silver Medalist Joseph Commey aka Jaguar, Alfred Lamptey aka Show Time, Michaell Abban aka Black Spider, Benjamin Lamptey, and Abigail Quartey (Ghana’s only female world boxing champion).

Most of the boxers take inspiration from Joshua Clottey, our former IBF Welterweight Champion, and Ossie Duran, aka Osumanu Yaya, former Commonwealth Champion and Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Boxer of the year.

Last year, Mathias Ashitey won the SWAG Boxer of the Year award, and the boxers are very proud of him.

Coach Killer extended much gratitude to Box Office Promotions and others who have supported his boxers.

“We are ready to win for Ghana, just give us the support and motivation,” he said.

Some boxers from the Black Panthers Gym will feature in The Resurrection Fight Night at the Laboma Beach Resort on Sunday,y April 5, 2026, like Abigail Quartey, Jaguar, Black Spider,e r and Show Time.

The gym was founded in 1997 by the late Emmanuel Tagoe, aka Coach Akesi. The dream has always been to produce disciplined, world-class boxers and champions.
